John Holden

My interest in art started when I was a teenager and saw a painting that captivated me (I think it was Turner’s Tintern Abbey) and from that moment I wanted to paint in watercolours.

I never really got to grips with the medium and it wasn’t until I retired, some 40 years later, and took classes at an adult education centre that I began to get into this most difficult of mediums.

After a few years of watercolour I began an interest in oils and these are the only two mediums I work in.

My watercolour subjects could be anything but in oils I like to paint portraits and animals.

Some of my other artwork can be seen on my Facebook page.

I will take commissions if there is an interest.
