AGM: Your presence is important

Attending this year’s Annual General Meeting is especially important for members, as it provides a valuable opportunity to help shape the future of the society.

The AGM allows us to review the past year’s achievements, contribute ideas for exhibitions, workshops and events, ask questions and take part in key decisions about how the society operates.

It is also the chance to elect or support committee members who volunteer their time to keep the society running.

By attending, you can ensure that your voice is heard, strengthen the sense of community within our group, and help ensure the society continues to thrive and support local artists.

Constitutional changes needing your vote

This year, the Society’s constitution is being updated to allow more flexibility in committee positions.

The revised constitution proposes that the role of Chairman may be shared by two people jointly.

It also introduces a new provision allowing the committee to appoint officers to vacant positions if they are not filled at the Annual General Meeting.

The rest of the structure remains largely the same, with the Chair and Secretary not being eligible for re-election to the same role after four consecutive years and the other committee member roles having no maximum tenure.

These changes aim to ensure smooth governance and accommodate potential gaps in officer positions.

The exact wordings of these changes are set out in the AGM Agenda document below.

We hope you can come and are looking forward to seeing you there.
